What this policy covers

This policy applies to the mile-score Chrome extension and the official mile-score website. The extension is designed to help you compare Rove hotel rates, OTA prices shown on Google Maps, earned miles, and the effective cost per mile.

mile-score is not affiliated with Google, Google Maps, or Rove.

Information the extension reads

When the extension is enabled and you open a supported Google Maps hotel detail page, mile-score may read the following hotel search context from the page:

• hotel name, address, and approximate coordinates;
• check-in and check-out dates;
• adult guest count;
• OTA prices and currencies visible on the Google Maps hotel page;
• page language and hotel name hints needed to match localized hotel pages.

The extension uses this information to identify the matching Rove hotel and calculate the miles score. It does not read unrelated browsing history or unrelated page content.

Rove authentication and rate lookup

To request Rove hotel rates, the extension reads your Rove authentication cookie from www.rove.com and extracts the access token used by Rove. The token is used only to make requests to Rove services such as api-v2.rove.com.

Your Rove authentication token is not sent to mile-score analytics or to the mile-score website. If you are not logged in to Rove, the extension will show a login prompt instead of requesting Rove rates.

Rove receives the information needed to perform the lookup, such as the hotel query, matched hotel or place identifiers, stay dates, guest count, and authentication token. Rove's own privacy practices are governed by Rove's policies.

Currency conversion

mile-score uses open.er-api.com to fetch exchange rates for currency conversion. The exchange-rate request fetches USD-based rate data and does not include your hotel name, Rove token, booking dates, or user identifier.

Analytics we collect

mile-score sends limited operational analytics to events.mile-score.com so we can understand whether scoring succeeds, diagnose matching failures, and improve reliability. Analytics may include:

• a daily pseudonymous user identifier generated from a random local identifier;
• extension version, browser UI locale, event time, and result status;
• offer mode, request status, and page type;
• city, check-in lead days, stay nights, adult guest count, OTA amount, and OTA currency;
• Rove hotel identifier, match score, Rove total, miles earned, whether Rove was cheaper, and scoring stage metadata.

Analytics events do not include your Rove authentication token. Analytics are retained for up to 90 days unless a longer period is required for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or aggregated reporting that no longer identifies a user.

Local storage

The extension stores settings in Chrome local storage, such as whether the overlay is enabled, score display mode, offer mode, exchange-rate cache data, and a random anonymous identifier used to create daily pseudonymous analytics IDs.

You can remove this local data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage in Chrome.

Referral and affiliate links

If you click a Rove sign-in or sign-up link shown by mile-score, the extension opens Rove with mile-score's referral code. Rove receives that code as part of the URL.

You may receive a referral reward from Rove, and mile-score's developer may also receive a referral reward. Rove determines eligibility and reward amounts, which may change and are not guaranteed by mile-score. Review the Rove Program Terms before using the link.

How we use information

We use information only to provide and maintain the mile-score service, calculate hotel mile scores, troubleshoot errors, prevent abuse, understand aggregate product reliability, and comply with applicable law.

We do not sell user data, use it for personalized advertising, or use it for creditworthiness, lending, employment, housing, insurance, or other unrelated eligibility decisions.

Sharing with third parties

mile-score shares data only as needed to provide the extension:

• with Rove and api-v2.rove.com to authenticate and retrieve hotel rates;
• with open.er-api.com to retrieve exchange rates;
• with service providers that host or process events.mile-score.com analytics and the official website.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the service.

Your choices

You can disable the overlay in the extension popup, avoid using the extension on Google Maps hotel pages, log out of Rove, clear Chrome extension storage, or uninstall the extension at any time.
